The Hamburger Sparkasse (HASPA) is one of five existing free public saving banks in Germany. With total assets of around 41.9 billion euros and around 5,000 employees it is the largest savings bank in Germany. The HASPA was founded in 1827 in the legal form of a juridical person under the old law of Hamburg. 2003 banking business was spun off into a public company and renamed the original Hamburger Sparkasse in HASPA financial holding.
